INSA Lyon, established in 1957, is one of the largest schools of international and multidisciplinary engineers in France. INSA produces more than 950 graduate engineers per year in 12 training courses and about 150 doctors per year in engineering sciences.

The DISP (Decision & Information Sciences for Production Systems) laboratory belongs to several institutions (INSA-Lyon, University Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and University Lumière Lyon 2) and was created on 1st January 2011. Its research deals with the design and application of decision-making methods and information systems in order to improve the performance of systems producing goods and services, networked companies and global supply chains. This laboratory combines skills in both industrial engineering and computer science for companies, studying the organisation and control of production systems in all their dimensions, including technical, organisational and human.

DISP’s Research Topics include organisation, coordination, control (including operation management, integration and alignment, collaborative practices and performance), and modelling, integration, information systems (product and service lifecycle management, knowledge engineering in product/service lifecycle management and business process-driven services for collaboration).

guinetPrincipal Investigator: Dr. Alain Guinet
Alain specialises in specifying new scientific approaches for health care system design and control, dealing with hospitals and health care networks. Alain’s work optimises network layout, resource location and dimensioning, human and material resource planning and scheduling, and the problem optimizations are based on economical, human, societal and environmental criteria. Alain also teaches Operation Research, Staffing and Scheduling, Business Process Engineering.

Over the last 10 years Alain has managed or co-managed 3 projects sponsored by the Region Rhône-Alpes, and 2 others by CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research): HRP, HRP2, HRP3 and GHC, 2HM. Alain is the head-manager of GISEH (Gestion et Ingenierie des SystEmes Hospitaliers) conference committee and co-manages the Research Groupe GISEH from GDR CNRS MACS (Modelisation, Analyse et Conduite des Systemes dynamiques).

fondrevelleDr. Julien Fondrevelle
Julien is an Associate Professor and Deputy Head of the Department of Industrial Engineering of INSA Lyon. His research activities deal with modelling, analysing and optimizing value-adding complex systems, focusing on their design, configuration and management. The tools, techniques and methods used stem from industrial engineering (modelling, simulation and operational research). As an Associate Professor Julien is also in charge of several courses and projects on Probabilities and Statistics, Graph Theory, Linear Programming, Scheduling, Multicriteria decision support systems.
